The Renal unit at the Cumberland Infirmary, was chosen as the charity to donate the proceeds of the tombola to, as a member of our team recently underwent a successful kidney transplant, and the care and attention he has received has been exemplary. The unit aims to provide a high quality multi-disciplinary service that is accessible to the local population. The items donated by local businesses are very much appreciated and range from a Spa package at Armathwaite Hall/meal vouchers to bottles of wine, so come along at the festival and. West House-Grow West
Grow West is an extensive garden centre/nursery and community garden based at Allerby near Maryport. It is run by a team of adults with learning disabilities and support workers. The thriving enterprise offers a vast range of potted plants, shrubs ,hanging baskets as well as vegetable boxes, homemade jams ,pickles, chutneys and eggs .You can expect to see the perfect range of summer time plants and delectable treats to take home with you.
Café west is an award winning local café based in the Workington library, offering a range of delicious snacks, hot meals and light lunches, and of course amazing coffee. It offers local people with learning disabilities a place to work and receive support, improving their skills and giving them a platform to thrive in the community. The home made cakes and scones are infamous in the local area, so get there early to bag yourself a bargain and expect queues.
The Pottery is West House’s newest project, which gives artists with learning disabilities a chance to produce breath-taking ceramic pieces. The project is going from strength to strength and has given local people the chance to show the community how truly talented they are. With an international fan base and strong following in the community, the team of artists have become expert potters, Stop by to look at their latest work- they will be thrilled to tell you all about what they have been up to!
